Spheniscus mendiculus
Description: Based on the creation of an archetype of Sphendicus mendicus, with special attention given to the beak, eyes and texture of the plumage, small illustrations were made describing the characteristic behaviours of this animal to withstand the heat of its natural habitat, the Galapagos archipelago. Everything was brought together in an infographic with light-hearted and playful text, with the aim of sparking the interest of the general public.
This illustration was made based on first hand life observations of individuals of Isabela island.
Final project leading to the completition of the course on ornitological illustration de la Academia illustraciencia.
Technique: Watercolour
Description: Emphasizing the contrasts of light and shadow to highlight the beautiful textures of the caparace of this small turtle that just come out of the shell.
This naturalistic illustration was made based on specimens of Caretta caretta, a species of sea turtle that inhabits almost all the seas of the planet.
Final project leading to the completition of the study programme "Natural History Illustration 101" of Newcastle University.
