It is with great joy that I announce my participation in this gallery, which exhibits a collection of botanical illustrators from the seventeenth century to the present.
Open call for contemporary women scientific botanical illustrators
Green Open Gallery showcases the excellence of contemporary botanical illustration by 21st-
century artists. All of these women have become professional botanical illustrators after training
in faculties of art or biology and now work documenting specimens for scientific, artistic, and
educational purposes. Their undeniable talent and strong determination have enabled them to
accurately and beautifully depict plant morphology.
The illustrations in this gallery were submitted in response to an open call, disseminated through
social media and in collaboration with prestigious botanical illustrators' societies, such as the
Korea Botanical Arts Cooperative and the Society of Botanical Artists. The response to this call
was remarkable, and here we can view a selection from over 600 contributions coming from 22
countries. This surge of artistic expression demonstrates the quality of new artists, who have
added their unique character to the rich tapestry of scientific illustration that transcends
geographical boundaries.
The dedication and passion evident in each piece make this space a tribute to women's
contributions to botanical representation. Their sensitivity, the richness of their languages, and
their skilled handling of techniques greatly enrich this branch of science.

"They Illustrate Botany: Green Open Gallery."
Last fall, this work was selected by the expert committee for the Green Open Gallery exhibition. Ellas Ilustran Botanica.
This installation takes place at the Pabellón Principal Royal Botanic Garden of Madrid, from February 12th to May 22nd.
This is a really special experience, because it is from the hand of illustrators that I admire and respect for their talent and their way of transmitting their passion. Therefore I want to give a special thanks to the Ellas Ilustran Botanica Team.
